Opening Ceremony
The birds nest itself has to be seen to be believed. It is a huge structure both in size and architectural achievement. The Opening was a blast, an amazing spectacle filled with colour, choreography, and inspiration. Of special note were a group of over 350 dancers who were hearing impaired, an amazing blind pianist, and a beautiful 11 year old ballet student who lost her leg in the Sichuan earthquake 4 months ago, performing from a wheelchair. The flame was lit after an athlete hoisted himself and his wheelchair up to the roof of the stadium.
